Is dog registration compulsory?
Where we file, yes. Delhi requires it under section 399 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957; Mumbai under sections 191A and 191B of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888; Haryana under section 311 of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994 and its 2008 dog bye-laws. Pick your corporation above to see its own rule.
What do I need?
Five photos from your phone: your Aadhaar, a proof of address, your dog, you with your dog, and the anti-rabies certificate showing the doctor’s signature, stamp, registration number and council name. Some corporations ask for one more — Haryana’s ask for the Family ID — and you see your exact list before you pay.
How long does it take?
Your part is a short form, one payment and five photos. The corporation decides how long its part takes, and none publishes a turnaround time. We file as soon as your documents are complete and follow it up until the corporation decides.
How much does it cost?
Each corporation’s price is shown live in the list above, and it includes the municipal fee. In Mumbai, BMC’s fee depends on your dog’s age, so the price does too. You always see the exact amount before you pay.
What if the corporation rejects it?
If the corporation rejects it, we refile at our own cost. You never pay twice. Whether a licence is approved is always the corporation’s decision.
Is IncrediPets a government body?
No. IncrediPets is a private service that prepares and files your application on your behalf. We are not affiliated with any municipal corporation, and your licence is issued by the corporation itself.
Can my housing society refuse my dog?
In Mumbai, BMC’s pet-owner guidelines of March 2025 say a society may not ban pets, restrict a breed or size, or bar dogs from the lifts — but it may ask to see the licence.
Is my dog’s breed banned?
There is no enforceable central breed ban today. The Centre’s March 2024 list of 23 breeds was quashed by the Delhi High Court in April 2024.
Does the licence need renewing?
In Delhi, yes: an MCD licence runs one year from your dog’s anti-rabies date, with one month’s grace before a late fee of ₹100 a month. Other corporations set their own renewal rules. Do you register cats?
Yes, in Navi Mumbai (NMMC) and Pune (PMC), for the same all-inclusive fee as a dog. Tap “Register my cat” at the top of this page. In other cities we register dogs only.
